Entry 001 - The First Manuscript
NOTE FROM THE WRiTER
Lately I’ve been obsessed with the novel as an experience.
The art is not only the final work. The art also includes: the making of, the sharing, the feedback, the oral tradition, the marketing, the artist’s persona. The art is living.
I’ve been handwriting first, then revising on the computer, then reading aloud and transcribing, then finishing at the typewriter.
Before I spent a week in the city, I was thinking about Gertrude Stein’s Parisian salons and their collaborative energy.
So I made a manuscript of the prologue—and began the roadshow.
